The text of the letter sent to the Euro-Saloons organisers as a result of the events that took place at Mallory Park on April 12:
"To all concerned,
I would like to bring to your attention the feelings of myself and other competitors from our series with regard to the driving of Peter Challis and the incident at Mallory Park on Monday 12th.
While I had a particularly close view of the incident in my mirror I was prepared to put this down to an accident but having talked to spectators some of whom are seasoned racers themselves it seems obvious that the incident was far from accidental and can only be described as malicious. Peter had no cause to even be forcing a pass manoeuvre at the time let alone bouncing Roger and his car from the track. I was mightily relieved to see Roger recover when I had initially expected to see him hit the barrier hard. Roger escaped very lightly from that collision and it is to his great credit that he did not lose his temper.
I expect a fair number of people to be waiting for the results of the first race before they made any entries this year in view of the change to the regulations particularly in fear of a sudden drop in the standard of driving and etiquette. This incident has done nothing at all to assuage those fears and if anything has done untold harm to the series in its inaugural event.
If this is the way the series is going to continue then I am sure there will be a number of people abandoning the series when it is barely underway and I will certainly be among them.
Julian Brown"
