Thanks to its F1 tour status Silverstone has some of the best facilities in the UK and is not suprisingly very well looked after - at least the main circuit is. The national circuit doesn't tend to receive as much attention and despite the excellent overall quality the change in surface between the international section (most of it) and the national section (Becketts and Club Straight) is quite pronounced. The level of grip available around Luffield is phenomenal while Becketts can come as a bit of a shock if you are not prepared for it.

If there is one thing wrong with Silverstone it is the seperation of the spectators from the action - the very nature of the F1 status means that safety measures are paramount here and while the excellent grandstands are available they do make the action feel a little remote thanks to the all important barriers and the immense run off areas.

Another boon of the F1 status is the recent upgrade to the road network in the area - for many years Silverstone was a bit of a nightmare to get to although not nearly so bad for low level club events. That all changed two years ago and now it is a breeze although there are still a couple of misleading road signs that can lead you off into the sticks as you leave!
