Mallory Park sells itself as "the friendly circuit" and to this end it is something of a paradox. The post-war feel is ever present and as you enter the premises you definitely feel a touch of the "Goodwood" atmosphere. The paddock though is on a slope with the tarmac broken in places. Very few buildings are present and although race control is right up to date the others feel a little on the shakey side. Entry to the paddock is actually across the circuit - through a gate at Shaws following the slope down towards the Lake Esses and turning in where the oval circuit breaks away from the longer national circuit.

The circuit surface is patchy with conflicting cambers laced along Stebbe Straight making it tricky to follow in some cars. Gerards is a full 1/4 mile long making it the longest corner in the UK - fast but with poor grip on the outside it is crucial to a fast lap but potentially hard to traverse. The hairpin at Shaws is particularly nasty with a hard wall on the inside line and the main circuit buildings outside, it is also a great viewing point with many drivers having "moments" as they try to put the power down.

Sadly despite all of its presentation Mallory also has a nasty reputation for killing drivers having the infamy of sitting at the top of the list for circuits in the UK - something that all drivers there should keep in mind. Most of the nasty accidents seem to be on bikes with more than a few riders ending their careers here but that doesn't stop them coming!
